Privacy Policy for Apps and Digital Products

Summary

Depending on the App, information may be processed locally on your device, through Apple or Google platform services, or by a third-party service needed for advertising, purchases, optional cloud features, diagnostics, or support.

Some Apps are entirely local utilities. Other Apps may include advertising, in-app purchases, widgets, watch connectivity, sharing, optional accounts, cloud synchronization, or user-selected file and photo processing. The App interface and App Store privacy information identify the features available in each App.

Information an App may process

Information you enter or select

An App may process information you enter, create, import, or select, such as calculations, preferences, history, notes, documents, images, receipt photos, recognized text, or other app-specific content.

When a feature is described as on-device, we do not intentionally upload that content to our own servers. It may still be included in operating-system backups or leave the device when you use a sharing, export, synchronization, or upload feature. The relevant App may use a temporary local copy while processing a selected file or image.

Device and technical information

If an App includes advertising, diagnostics, analytics, cloud services, or similar third-party components, those components may process technical information such as:

- device or advertising identifiers;
- IP address or coarse location derived from network information;
- operating-system and device information;
- consent and privacy-choice signals;
- app interactions and product interactions;
- advertising impressions, clicks, and performance information;
- crash, performance, and diagnostic information; and
- fraud-prevention and security signals.

The exact data depends on the App, enabled services, your region, your choices, and the versions of the third-party SDKs included in that App.

Purchases and subscriptions

If an App offers a purchase or subscription, the Apple App Store or Google Play processes the payment, as applicable. We may receive product, transaction, subscription, and entitlement information needed to unlock, maintain, or restore the purchase. We do not receive your complete payment-card details from the app store.

Support communications

If you contact us, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, screenshots, and diagnostic details. We use that information to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue.

Accounts and optional online features

Most utility features do not require an account. If a particular App offers an account, cloud synchronization, online backup, collaboration, or another network feature, it may process the account details and content required to provide that feature. The App will identify the feature and, where appropriate, its service provider before you use it.

Local processing and storage

Apps may use operating-system frameworks, including Apple frameworks, to process text, images, audio, or other content on the device. Data described as local is stored in the App's private storage, preferences, database, keychain, or private App Group as appropriate.

Local information may be included in device backups according to your operating-system and backup settings. You can generally remove local App data by using an available clear or delete control or by deleting the App.

Widgets, watch apps, and platform extensions

If an App includes a widget, watch app, shortcut, share extension, or similar platform feature, the App may copy a limited, feature-specific summary into a private platform container or transfer it between your paired devices using Apple or Google platform services.

For example, a widget may read a recent value from a private App Group, and a watch app may exchange a summary with its paired phone. These platform features do not make the information public.

Advertising, consent, and tracking

Some free Apps use Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). When those services are present, Google may process device identifiers, coarse location, IP address, consent signals, app interactions, advertising data, performance data, crash data, and other diagnostic or fraud-prevention information. Google's processing is governed by its own policies and the choices available to you.

Depending on your region and choices, an ad-supported App may show personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads. Declining Apple's tracking permission or personalized advertising does not necessarily turn off ads. If Apple's tracking permission is declined, Apple's advertising identifier is unavailable to the App for tracking. When Google UMP reports that an ad request is permitted, Google may still serve non-personalized or limited ads using the applicable consent and device signals.

Where Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission applies, an App uses Apple's system-controlled permission. If you decline, an App does not condition access to its core features on changing that decision or attempt to override the system choice with another tracking authorization request. A Google privacy-options entry point may remain available when UMP reports that it is required so you can review applicable consent choices.

Apps using Google UMP request a Google ad only after UMP reports that the request is permitted. Where an App offers Remove Ads, successful recognition of that entitlement stops subsequent ad requests from that App while the entitlement remains valid.

Apps that do not include an advertising SDK do not use Google Mobile Ads merely because this shared policy discusses it.

How information is used

Information may be used to:

- provide and maintain App features;
- remember settings and restore local state;
- complete user-requested sharing, export, synchronization, or backup;
- process and restore purchases or subscriptions;
- provide advertising where an App is ad-supported;
- measure advertising, performance, reliability, and product interactions;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- respond to support requests; and
- comply with legal obligations.

Sharing and third parties

Information may be shared in these circumstances:

- with Apple, Google, or another platform provider when needed for app distribution, purchases, device features, consent, advertising, or platform services;
- with a service provider used by an optional account, cloud, analytics, diagnostics, or support feature;
- when you deliberately choose to share, export, upload, or synchronize content;
- when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, rights, safety, or the security of the Apps; or
- as part of a business transfer, subject to applicable law and continued protection of the information.

We do not directly sell the private content you create or import into an App, such as documents, receipt contents, calculations, or saved history. Advertising-related disclosure or processing may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" under some regional laws even when no money is exchanged for your personal information. Where applicable, use the consent, tracking, and privacy controls described in this policy and provided by the App or operating system.

Retention

Retention depends on where information is processed:

- Local App data remains until you clear it, reset the App, or delete the App, subject to device backups and platform behavior.
- Optional account or cloud information remains according to the feature's settings, provider terms, and applicable deletion controls.
- Purchase records are retained by the relevant app store and may remain available for restoration and legal accounting requirements.
- Advertising, analytics, diagnostic, and consent information is retained by the relevant provider according to its policies and your choices.
- Support correspondence may be retained as reasonably necessary to resolve requests, maintain records, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

Your choices

Depending on the App and your location, you may be able to:

- accept, decline, or review advertising consent through Google UMP controls;
- decline Apple's tracking permission without losing core App functionality;
- limit tracking through your operating-system privacy settings;
- grant or revoke camera, photo-library, notification, location, or other permissions in device settings;
- purchase an available Remove Ads product;
- clear local history or other saved information inside the App;
- sign out of or delete an optional account using the controls provided for that feature;
- stop a cloud or synchronization feature; and
- delete local App data by removing the App from your device.

You may also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information that we control, subject to applicable law. If information is controlled only by Apple, Google, or another service provider, you may need to use that provider's privacy controls.

Legal bases and regional rights

Where the laws of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction require a legal basis, we process personal information only when an applicable basis is available. Depending on the App and feature, those bases may include:

- performing a contract or taking steps you request, such as providing an App feature or recognizing a purchase;
- your consent, such as for tracking or personalized advertising where consent is required;
- our legitimate interests in providing support, protecting the Apps, preventing fraud and abuse, and carrying out permitted non-personalized operations, balanced against your rights; and
- compliance with a legal obligation.

When processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent through an available in-app privacy entry point, the relevant operating-system settings, or the provider's controls. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; receive portable data; and complain to your local data-protection authority.

Children’s privacy

Unless an App specifically states otherwise, the Apps are general-audience products and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to provide personal information directly to us. Apps containing advertising must be configured for the appropriate audience, regional consent requirements, and app-store age rating before distribution.

If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information we control. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Platform and third-party providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their processing is governed by their policies and applicable transfer safeguards.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when features, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The latest version will be posted at the same URL with an updated date. Material app-specific changes may also be described in the affected App or its store listing.
